RSPB British Birdfinder

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a British charity with more than one million members and an income of over ￡122 million in 2011. It manages over 200 nature reserves and has produced a number of natural history guides including the well-respected field guide: The RSPB Handbook of British Birds (Holden and Cleeves 2002). The British Birdfinder is a very different type of work: it is aimed primarily at those birdwatchers, colloquially known as twitchers, who systematically work through a tick list of species. The book lists nearly 300 birds and indicates the most likely places in which they can be found. For the more common birds, information is general about habitat and seasonal variations, but for the rarities, specific locations are listed.
