Two incidental statements jumped out when reading this book - one, "sadly, sin is central to the Bible's story", and the other, "sin is unnatural". Passing comments though they were in wider discussions, they well reveal the challenges faced by anyone who seriously approaches the subject of sin. Theologically, sin is encompassed about, supported exegetically and hermeneutically one might say by "the doctrine of sin", something that takes us into the theological, epistemological and ontological explanations for the existence of sin, its implications and consequences, its impact on human choices and freedoms and agency and on individuals and communities.
