摘要

Catalytic epoxidation of ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM) is performed in toluene using tert. -butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as oxidant and molybdenum oxide as catalyst. The process of epoxidation is monitored by FT-IR spectroscopy. ~1H NMR and FT-IR spectrum analysis of the products reveals that no significant side reactions take place in this system even at High epoxidation level (>90/100). Various influence factors such as reaction temperature, reaction time and the concentrations Of oxidant and catalyst are also examined in detail. Kinetics study shows that the catalytic epoxidation reaction of EPDM is Pseudo-second-order corresponding tot he concentrations of double bonds and TBHP, and the apparent activation energy for The reaction is 42.6 kJ/mol.
