When faced with an Allen screw whose socket has been damaged so that an Allen key no longer fits it, the simple solution is to cut a slot in the head and use a normal screwdriver to remove it. What do you do, though, if the fixing is recessed in a counter-bored hole, where cutting a slot would ruin the surrounding component?
