The truth is stark. If most of your building takes place over the winter then you'll probably not accumulate enough practice'to fully develop your bench skills. Most trad' Brit. types fly all summer (with a bit of repairing) and then concentrate building activities on the winter projects. At best, our building is episodic rather than continuous so I find that I get rusty between winter building seasons and forget how to accomplish things that I was quite slick at last year.
