Most of us have a simulator these days - they're a handy bit of kit. Good for beginners to learn basic flying skills and orientation, useful to keep your hand in during periods of poor weather and, of course, invaluable for practicing that difficult new manoeuvre you're trying to crack, without cracking too many models! But RealFlight Drone from Hobbico in the UK is a bit different in that it's especially for drones, specifically multirotors. Most simulators these days include a couple of multirotors, but frankly they're often a bit disappointing - the physics isn't quite right so it doesn't really feel like flying a real multirotor, but the big shortcoming is that the software doesn't include all the features you'd usually associate with multirotor flying, such as switchable flight modes & gimbal controls, and special flight controller features such as return-to-home and headless modes. All this means that most simulators fall a bit short of the true experience of flying a multirotor. However, this simulator has been written with all that in mind, let's take a detailed look.
