The engine problems sent to me for assistance or advice mean I've spent a fair amount of time coming up with a method for removing screw-in backplates. In particular small diesels that have been resurrected, purchased secondhand or some other way obtained. Fair to say that many would be from days way back and have been languishing in a box foryears, with the result that they are gummed up, stuck tight and in need of a damn good service.
