DOUGLAS DAUNTLESS

VQ has been producing model aircraftsince 1994 and MacGregor Industries in the UK recently started to market and promote the range of models, many being types you won't find elsewhere. I had recently assembled the company's Yak 9, which received a favourable response at our flying field, so this Dauntless was an enticing prospect. The SBD-5 was the most common Dauntless variant; 2965 were built and, as a carrier-based dive bomber, it famously helped to destroy Japanese ships at the Battle of Midway in June 1942. Production ceased in 1944.
