Getting to know RICK MAHER

Each month AREMA features one of our committee chairmen. We are pleased to announce that the March featured chairman is Rick Maher, chair of Committee 27-Maintenance of Way Work Equipment. AREMA: Why did you decide to choose a career in railway engineering? Maher: Actually, I was just lucky to apply for a job at the right time. I was seeking employment as a truck or heavy equipment mechanic when I heard that the railroad was hiring. I had always been interested in learning about construction equipment, but had never been exposed to the special equipment used in the railway industry.
