The European Commission is now expected to present its draft proposals for the Fourth Railway Package this month, although it had hoped to have them ready before the end of last year. What are you hoping to see?rnThe Fourth Railway Package is overdue. Everybody in the rail sector has been looking for a clear signal from the Commission about how it plans to finalise the move towards a single European rail market. This is particularly important to France and some other member states which are currently discussing how to reform their railways. We warmly welcome the Commission's desire to eliminate any remaining obstacles to a unified market, whilst at the same time consolidating the performance and competitiveness of the railways, which will reinforce the recent growth in demand.
