Wiener Linien Orders X-Wagen Metro Trains

On 8 March 2018 Wien's Environment Councillor Ulli Sima, Wiener Linien and Siemens presented the design for the capital's new 1,435 mm gauge 750 V DC third rail metro trains. These six-car units, to be known as X-Wagen, are derived from the design of the existing latest metro trains in use on the network. They will be fully gangwayed, their interiors brightly-lit. The seat layout is of a new configuration, contributing to the feeling of spaciousness, and is designed to facilitate the movement of passengers along the length of the train.
