DB Regio Orders KISS EMUs

On 27 March 2019 NAH.SH (Nahverkehrsverbund Schleswig-Holstein, Schleswig-Holstein Transport Authority) confirmed that DB Regio had won the contract for the Elektronetz Ost (ENO, Electric network East) group of services, put out to tender in January 2018. This group comprises three routes, totalling around 175 km - RB 85 Lubeck Hbf to Puttgarden, RB 86 Lubeck-Travemunde to Lubeck Hbf and RE 8/80 Lubeck Hbf to Hamburg Hbf. Elektronetz Ost services are currently used by around 24,000 passengers daily. The new 13-year contract, which starts in December 2022, specifies the operation of around 4.2 million train km per annum.
