Nice Cote d'Azur's Catenary-Free Trams Enter Service

The Tramway de Nice was inaugurated on 24 November 2007. Originally, there was just one line, the 9.2 km, 22-stop Line 1, running from Henri Sappia (where the depot is situated) via the Valrose University and city centre to Hopital Pasteur Saint-Jean d'Angely University and Pont Michel, a „U"-shaped route with its southern base in the old quarter of the city. Services here were from the start provided by a fleet of 20 five-section Citadis 302 (secondgeneration) and eight seven-section Citadis 402 trams.
