Semi-Trailer Transport To Poland: Recent Developments

There have been several ups and downs in the transport of semi-trailers to and from Poland in recent years. In autumn 2013 DLS Land und See Speditions-gesellschaft started up an intermodal service carrying semi-trailers between Krefeld and Warszawa (see R 4/14, p. 11 2). Early in 201 5 another service, from Krefeld to Swarzedz (near Poznan), was started (see R 1 /15, p. 13). Haulage was initially provided in Poland by PKP Cargo, but as time went by haulage responsibility for the whole route to Warszawa was taken over jointly by ERS Railway and its sister concern, Freight-liner Polska. However the Krefeld to Warszawa service was suspended in January 201 7, and the Krefeld to Swarzedz one in April that year, the same month that DLS announced its bankruptcy.
