Uncertainty aside, the past year or so has presented many of us with a fresh opportunity to slow down, and to explore and fall in love with the wonderful areas available to us on our doorstep - and, above all, discover the many places of interest across the country that we may not have been aware of. With staycation bookings soaring within the UK, and a rise in the popularity of day trips, Grand Central was keen to showcase some of the amazing scenery and attractions that can be spotted along a number of our routes. We hope to encourage people to take the scenic route and travel by rail this summer. We advocate leaving the car at home, sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying some incredible views from the comfort of our train carriages. We're lucky that our trains pass through stunning scenery each and every day. We're keen to show that a journey with us is about much more than getting from A to B -something we've aimed to showcase in the full-length train route videos we've created. We're also eager to tempt those who may be curious to have a sneak peek at some of what's on offer along our routes before they travel, as well as enticing them in to explore more of the UK by travelling with Grand Central. With this in mind, we have therefore created a number of videos showcasing the following journeys: Sunderland to York, York to King's Cross, and Doncaster to King's Cross. Viewers are treated to views of dramatic coastlines, stunning countryside and bustling urban locations, passing through 91 towns and cities. The short films offer a snapshot of the UK from both sides of the train.
