The first of 252 new container wagons has been delivered for use by GB Railfreight. VTG Rail's Ecofret2 vehicles, which will run as 84 triple-wagon sets, offer flexibility by being configured to take either one 40ft- or two 20ft-long containers across all platforms. Changes over the previous Ecofret vehicles, which were introduced in 2012, include a new bogie design and braking system. The wagons will be built at the WH Davis site at Shirebrook (East Midlands) and are due to be completed this year. Wagon-leasing organisation VTG Rail has around 4,500 wagons in its UK fleet. The latest for GBRf are part of what it has described as "a longstanding and multi-million-pound partnership".
