NETWORK Rail has awarded BAM Nuttall the contract to construct the first phase of the new Dawlish sea wall at Marine Parade. Work is due to start at the end of this month. It is planned that this phase of the scheme will be complete by the end of January, although NR says this will depend entirely upon the weather. BAM Nuttall will construct a new wall in the 360-metre section between the Colonnade Underbridge (immediately west of Dawlish station) and Kennaway Tunnel (the first of five tunnels when heading west).
