A lowering of standards

I remain saddened with the flow of emails I receive regarding the lowering of standards of some operators who, it seems, are cutting corners to save a few pennies without considering the damage to their reputation. A reader recently travelled to Cornwall from Reading in First Class. He said that on being given a sandwich by the host, he was told he was lucky to get one, as on Penzance services the stock of sandwiches is usually gone by Reading.
