GCs Blackpool driver training on hold with Mk 4s stored

Mk 4s hired by Grand Central for driver training, ahead of the introduction of London Euston-Blackpool North open access services, have been sent for storage. This follows the postponement of the project as a direct result of COVID-19. The Blackpool services are now due to begin next year, rather than this month. GC had delivered a number of Mk 4s to Widnes, where Alstom is refurbishing the stock. Class 90s leased from DB Cargo UK were also being painted into the open access operator's livery, with 90026/029 treated and 90020 at Toton. GC hired additional Mk 4s on a short-term basis to enable training, but these have now all moved to Worksop for storage. Two rakes were moved from Blackpool North on May 4, and these were joined the following day by coaches from Wembley.
