Six more Class 345s to complete Crossrail order

Six of the 70-strong order of Class 345s for Crossrail remain to be delivered to London, after 345023 arrived at Old Oak Common on May 6. The nine-car electric multiple unit has been in warm storage at Worksop, where a number of Bombardier Aventras have been kept awaiting entry into traffic. It had undergone testing at the Old Dalby test track prior to moving to the Harry Needle Railroad Company site. Still to move to London are 345002/019/026/045/046/048. The first three are at Asfordby and the remainder at Worksop. More Class 345s are also being introduced as nine-car trains on the London Paddington-Reading route, with intermediate vehicles being delivered by road from Worksop to Old Oak Common to strengthen electric multiple units that had been reduced to seven-car formations.
