摘要

South Western Railway services returned to normal on February 24 following the derailment of a freight train at Eastleigh on January 28. The main line had been closed for six days after six wagons of a Freightliner train heading for Southampton docks came off the tracks at a junction. Network Rail has admitted that a failure of track fastenings caused the incident (see last issue). The junction had initially been replaced with a section of plain line so services could resume. This meant trains from Waterloo heading towards Southampton were unable to call at Eastleigh station. The line was closed for a further two days over the weekend of February 22-23. A new junction was installed, enabling trains to resume stopping at Eastleigh's Platform 2
