Fuelling additional rail freight traffic

The most successful projects are often achieved through collaborations between organisations. One such project, to deliver jet fuel for British Airways at Heathrow Airport by rail, claimed Freight & Logistics Achievement of the Year at RAIL's National Rail Awards held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel in September (RAIL 889). The amount of aviation fuel required to supply aircraft at the UK's largest airport is vast. Ensuring that sufficient fuel is continually delivered is therefore a major logistical exercise.
