No ceremony... but first of GA's169 new trains enters traffic

GREATER Anglia's new train transformation began on July 29 when four-car bi-mode 755410 entered traffic, the first of a £600 million order from Stadler. Built in Poland, the BMU formed the 0747 Lowestoft-Norwich, replacing Class 37-hauled trains on the diagram. By the end of next year, GA will introduce 169 new trains (58 from Stadler, 111 from Bombardier), replacing all its existing trains. This is the first time a franchise has done this as part of an award, with the £1.4 billion transformation the cornerstone of Abellio's winning bid in 2016 (RAIL 807).
