With the recent approval of the takeover of Adtranz by Bombardier the railway supply industry has made a further step in the process of concentration and of the changing relations between the railway operators and suppliers. Railway operators will - under the influence of EU legislation - concentrate on their core business of providing reliable and high quality railway services and transfer the responsibility of research and development and maintenance to the railway supply industry.
