A two-year review undertaken in conjunction with Network Rail (RB1487 p3) has seen a total of 4702 paths relinquished by freight operators, NR announced on March 31. Of these, 3 684 have been removed from the working timetable, potentially releasing capacity for additional freight and passenger services, while 1018 have been deemed to be of 'strategic value' and will be further developed by NR.
