SCAQMD Considers UV Use for Glass Coatings Applications

The viability of UV technology for glass coatings was called into question by an end-user who requested an exemption for his glass coatings operation under South Coast Air Quality Management District Rule 1145-Plastic, Rubber, Leather and Glass Coatings. Since UV technology was being considered by the end-user, the exemption request brought forth the question of whether or not UV coatings could meet industry performance standards, such as passing the ASTM D3359-97 adhesion test.
