Efforts to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) intensified in 2009, and will continue to be a major focus for the EPA in 2010. This year was bookended with two congressional hearings on TSCA reform held by the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection. Also, in December, the Senate held its own hearing on the TSCA. The EPA has been revising its regulatory approach again, with the spotlight staying squarely on existing chemicals.
