摘要

The paper gives a critical analysis of proposals, put forth by different authors, on how to extend the "effective scattering area of objects" concept to the case of ultra-wideband sounding signals. By going from partial frequency responses of a radar channel's elements to those integral-over-spectrum, new integral characteristics are introduced. Particularly, the effective energy (generalized) scattering area and its autocorrelated function make the description of processes of UWB-signal transmission and reception more convenient.
