Amateur radio construction is still thriving, thanks to the existence of a number of British kit manufactures. Walford Electronics is perhaps not as well known as some in this field, but their March 1997 catalogue describes transmitters, receivers, transceivers, accessories and test equipment - 17 kits in total from £16 to over £100. There is also a 'construction club', where builders of the kits can benefit from each other's experience. After I heard about their Wedmore 80 metre transceiver kit, I decided to build it and put it though its paces.
