The work of the International Amateur Radio Union is not confined to the Regional Conferences. Whilst these take place every three years (Region 1 in 1996, Region 3 in 1997, and Region 2 in 1998 for example) the Administrative Council (AC) and specialist committees or working groups are voluntarily giving many hours of their time to consider current and future problems. This is more necessary than before, because the International Telecommunication Union (the professional organisation) holds World Radio Conferences at more frequent intervals than in the past - now every two years.
