RSGBVHF NFD 1998 Results

VHF NFD 1998 seems to have been a relatively sedate event. The usually plentiful tales of mishaps, emergencies and Heath Robinson fixes were noticeably few this year, with a couple of nearly dropped aerials, one blown pre-amp, very few stations and amplifiers needing running repairs and only one generator which couldn't keep up. This is generally good for the entrants, but it starves this report of material! Those in the North and West got the worst of the weather, especially the high winds, but discomfort appears to have been the worst consequence. A great many clearly enjoyed the event as both a radio and social occasion. Mid Cheshire ARS (G8ZTT) discovered the benefits of cooking by barbecue; theirs was gas powered and was described as 'the most impressive technical advance for years'. Many would agree, especially as it minimises the washing up.
