September is an ideal month for working low band DX, especially around the equinox (21 September). Lookout for VK/ZL, both long and short path, often with excellent signals, even on 160m. David, G4ERW, writes that he is taking a 'career break' from Shell and will be working voluntarily for the United Mission to Nepal, based in Kathmandu, between 8 September and 11 November. He hopes to obtain the callsign 9N1ERW and will be operating CW and SSB on the higher HF bands. He will be using an IC-706 to dipole and/or vertical antennas. QSL to his home call.
