Changes in regulations governing the permissible power output on 50MHz mean that it is now possible to run 400 watts PEP into the antenna. The power amplifier to be described here takes full advantage of this fact and is capable of producing 600 watts output with good linearity. With 600 watts into the transmit end of a feeder with 1.7dB loss, 400 watts will be available into the antenna. In practical terms this means that using a 40 metre run of RG213/UR67 feeder would still provide maximum legal power into the antenna.
