Rarely these days does an island operation start from a new IOTA group without some prior notice, if notto the world at large, at least to the IOTA Committee. Even more rarely does such an operation become a new IOTA counter almost by accident. But this is exactly what happened in January when a team of three Indian amateurs, Horey, VU2HFR; Joy, VU2JSH, and Skid, VU2SKD, from the Calcutta VHF Amateur Radio Society set up a station on Sagar Island in the Ganges Delta for the annual Ganga Sagar Mela festival.
