The So-Called 'Numbers Stations' heard on the short-wave bands have always fascinated listeners. Last month, in Part Eight of 'The Voices', I detailed various UK-based semi-covert radio operations. This month I continue with my investigations, but take a look at comparable activities taking place beyond our shores. The USA has a similar kind of intelligence structure to our own, but employs 10 times as many people, and has a proportionately larger budget and range of communications equipment. However, the work-load is split up in a like manner to our own.
