For some years now, interest has been growing in the contesting community about Single Operator Two Radio (SO2R) operation. This is the mode of operating whereby the operator has control of two transceivers, operating on two separate bands. Whilst transmitting on one band, the operator can monitor the second band, looking for additional contest multipliers or band openings. To use SO2R effectively, the operator needs a computer, automatic Morse keyer (or, for SSB contests, some form of voice keyer) and a means to switch between transceivers. The operator is then able to let the technology send the contest exchange, whilst he concentrates on listening on the second band.
