Heil headphones and headsets are well known for their sound and build quality, but there are several other brands available and most of them cost a lot less. Can some of the cheaper headsets achieve good audio reports on transmit, do they sound good on receive, are they comfortable to wear and do they exclude unwanted noise? In short, how do they compare to Heil? In this review, I will put three headsets to the test: the budget Watson W-184; the mid-priced MFJ-393; and the Heil Proset 5. It'll be like comparing a very basic small car to a mid-priced family saloon to an executive 4x4 - you don't expect the same performance or comfort from all of them, but sometimes you're pleasantly surprised or terribly disappointed in some way.
