Keyborard modes for lf. John Andrews, W1TAG, and Jay Rusgrove, W1VD, have been engaged in some extensive testing of keyboard data modes on the LF bands, particularly the new experimental 500kHz allocation. A series of night time tests were carried out over November and December 2007, with 10 minute transmissions in one mode, and 10 minutes in another. The well publicised event attracted reports from as far as Europe and they are very grateful for the many listeners who patiently sent screen-shots and text grabs. There have also been oneway tests during the day and night hours, working through a long list of possibilities, giving each mode a few minutes to observe what happens with noise and fading. Experiments will continue through into the summer months to observe the effects of the higher noise levels.
