Last month we looked at adding random noise to the signal to improve the IP3 response of an SDR receiver. Here is another way of doing the same job. Since random noise is effectively being used to 'spread' the wanted signals, a reasonable question would be: "Why can't we use natural band noise to apply the dithering?" Well, it turns out we can - as well as using other signals that may be present in the input bandwidth.
