The directors present their report and the audited financial statements for the period ended 31 December 2008rnPrincipal activities. The principal activities of the Society are to provide services to members who are radio amateurs, short wave listeners or others with interests in radio communications. The Society represents the interests of UK licensed radio amateurs to the regulatory authority in the UK, Ofcom and via the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) to other international bodies.rnThe main thrust of Society activity at the start of the year was the move from Lambda House and the relocation to Abbey Court, Bedford. The purchase of Abbey Court was completed in March and the sale of Lambda House in April. The office move was completed by the end of April. A number of staff transferred to Bedford and a small number were made redundant. The QSL Bureau following a tendering process was outsourced to Norcomm Ltd, which is based in Halifax, Yorkshire. Both the office move and the outsourcing of the bureau have been a success.
