The late-seventeenth century was clouded with speculation as to who was the first developer of differential calculus, the German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz or the English mathematician Isaac Newton. Now basically credited as an independent achievement, the revelations were truly spectacular in that with calculus, scientists could express the relation between a particular function and its derivatives.
