This issue of Questa gathers 4 papers associated with presentations which were made at the 8th International Conference on Stochastic Networks.rnThe conference was held on June 23-28, 2008, at Ecole Normale Superieure, rue d'Ulm, Paris. The event, which gathered 150 participants from all over the world, continued a tradition of similar meetings held over the last 20 years. The series started with the conference organized by Peter Glynn and Tom Kurtz in Madison in 1987 and was followed by conferences in Minneapolis, Edinburgh, Madison, Stanford, Montreal and Urbana-Champaign. As its predecessors, this meeting brought together mathematicians and applied researchers who share an interest in stochastic network models.
