Four-wave scattering of light by coherently excited phonon polar- itons in homogeneous LiIO_3, Mg: LiNbO_3, and Nd, Mg: LiNbO_3 crystals with a periodic domain structure was analyzed. For the lithium niobate crystals, the experimental dependences of the intensity of the Stokes component on the polarition detuning of phase matching were found to be substantially different from the dependences predicted by the theory. General expressions for the profile of the line of four-wave scattering in crystals with a periodic distribution of nonlinear-optical properties and in spatially bounded nonlinear media were obtained.
