Schreiner ProTech, a Germany-based label maker, has developed radio-frequency identification (RFID) labeling systems. This automates the acquisition of component data during the automotive manufacturing process, for example, and provides tamper evidence for longer-term product verification. Within the system, component information can be read automatically, with antennas installed at the assembly line reading and documenting pertinent per-item data as components travel between stations. The RFID labels also incorporate a tamper-evidence feature to ensure it cannot be peeled off without destruction and, for instance, reapplied to another component and falsely resold as an original.
