Since 1986, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has developed the ISO 9000 family of quality management system (QMS) standards, and many organizations have used them to create their own quality systems.Unfortunately, the standards seem to contain unclear definitions, including some basic ones: "product quality", "quality assurance", "quality control" and "QMS. As a result, it can be difficult for enterprises to create effective and working quality systems. Because of this, when many organizations formally create their quality systems, the systems exist only on paper for purposes of obtaining ISO certification, not to be used to perform actual work and improve business operations.In addition, each area of knowledge may have its own terminology. Terminology is not only a list of terms, but it's also a science. The terms form a hierarchy, in which the applied definitions must not contradict the fundamental ones. A violation of the hierarchy leads to anarchy in the definition of terms. Unfortunately, this happens in ISO 9000 with the applied definitions of the fundamental terms.This article proposes clearer and more useful principles, terms and definitions-in accordance with authoritative sources-for users to help organizations create effective quality systems.
