Challenges to the Successful Implementation of DFSS

Throughout the analysis of lessons, several recurring themes were described as challenges to those firms attempting to make the Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) journey: 1. Statistical analysis is not generally part of the engineering curriculum or understood by regulatory bodies. Probabilistic design analysis is taught only at a few universities. Thus, firms seeking to establish DFSS as the approach to product development find they must train all their engineering teams in basic probabilistic design methodologies. The training encompasses the tools and methodologies required. Simultaneously the firm must manage the culture change required to make Six Sigma the way business is conducted. Nearly all the firms surveyed made. this particular comment.
