James m. brogden, owner and CEO of Master Industries Inc., began attending W. Edwards Deming's four-day seminars in the late 1980s and became convinced Deming's 14 points and management philosophy were just what his mold manufacturing company needed to become more flexible and responsive in meeting customer needs. The company implemented Deming's points and incorporated his teachings about how businesses are systems that can delight, not just satisfy customers. The company also began to use statistical process control (SPC), another key element in Deming's philosophy. As a result, Master Industries developed a customer focused and employee oriented culture committed to continuous improvement.
