U.S. JOB SATISFACTION RATES HIT 20-YEAR LOW

Even those Americans who have managed to remain employed in this down economy have expressed unhappiness and frustration with their jobs. The report, based on a survey of 5,000 US households conducted for the Conference Board by TNS, a market research company, finds only 45% of those surveyed say they are satisfied with their jobs. In 1987, the first year the survey was conducted, 61.1% of respondents were satisfied. Since then job satisfaction numbers have been decreasing. The drop crosses all four key drivers of employee engagement: job design, organizational health, managerial quality, and extrinsic rewards.
