William E. Conway, known by many as the first Fortune 500 executive to work with w. Edwards Deming and truly embrace continuous improvement methods, has died. He was 85.The 1983 recipient of ASQ's George D. Edwards Medal, he was president and CEO of Nashua Corp. when he was interviewed in "If Japan Can ... Why Can't We?" a 1980 documentary that introduced many of Deming's methods to American industry.
