To keep members of Xerox's Technology Delivery Center (TDC) motivated while they were revising their quality management system-and later to celebrate when the center achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification-a college student who later joined the center wrote and performed two rap songs based on the center's quality efforts. Roger Delacruz had been working his way through college-studying computer science at the University of Maryland, College Park-by participating in rap and hip hop contests and writing music. Donna Thomas, director of quality assurance for service delivery at Xerox, asked him to come up with the first song, "The TTC Theme Song". "Everyone has hobbies on the side. Writing songs and performing rap songs is Roger's favorite pastime, and he had the unique opportunity to apply his talent in the workplace," Thomas said. "The song and the words are great, but the connections created by listening to the song are priceless."
